Getting Ready
Each day we interface with pastors and church
board members who are beginning the process to relocate. The simple
message we convey to these
churches is to "GET READY". This simple message, unfortunately,
is not a simple process.
Church leaders must devote adequate time to
becoming knowledgeable in various areas. Defining the mission of a
church and translating that
mission into space requirements is no easy task. However, there are experienced
architects who can define facility and space requirement as they grasp
a church’s mission.
In turn, the space requirements eventually translate into budgetary
requirements. Structuring a workable financial plan into a strategic
relocation plan is paramount. Too often we encounter churches who have
not defined their mission, determined their space requirements and
crystallized
their financial capabilities, steps which allow for a solid relocation
plan to be formulated. When churches contact us, we inquire about the
status of these critical issues that must be addressed before a congregation
relocates. Our efforts will be to assist the churches in making these
determinations and, if necessary, to direct them to experienced architects,
contractors, and lenders.
As a parting note, our work puts us in contact
with a multitude of financing sources. If you encounter a prospective
lender that promises
financing at below market rates with some creative, rarely used and strange
method of financing, BE ON GUARD. After working with churches since 1986,
I have found that these financing schemes should be approached with great
caution. It is to the church’s advantage to work with well established
entities who have a track record that can be readily verified.
Give us a call to discuss your church’s
plans and needs.
